The Situational Analysis serves as an informational document rather than a prescriptive solution. It provides a statistical overview specific to the local context.

The analysis highlights Kawartha Lakes' economic vitality and diverse opportunities, positioning it as an attractive destination for businesses and residents alike. Here are some key highlights from the document:

  • The population of Kawartha Lakes has experienced notable growth, rising from 79,247 in 2021 to approximately 83,000 in 2023, with projections nearing 120,000 by 2051.
  • Despite lower median and average incomes compared to Ontario, Kawartha Lakes boasts better housing affordability, with only 19% of residents spending over 30% of their income on housing, compared to 28% across Ontario.
  • A larger proportion of Kawartha Lakes residents hold college or non-university certificates or degrees (32% versus Ontario's 24%), indicating a strong availability of technical skills within the local labor pool.
