NEW - Active transportation network and recommendations now available - help us prioritize these actions to finalize the ATMP!

2 August 2023

The project team, with support from local stakeholders, has now completed a draft version of the planned active transportation network, along with supportive recommendations that will help implement the network and encourage more active trips. We are now looking for your feedback on prioritizing the new facilities, improvements, and recommendations, to help us finalize the overall ATMP, and start to put its recommendations into action.

This significant project milestone was achieved in collaboration with the public and a variety of stakeholders, including the ATMP Task Force, with whom six in-depth working meetings were conducted over the course of the project. We would like to thank everyone for your continued support and contributions to the various engagement activities that fed into developing the draft ATMP network and associated recommendations.

The active transportation network developed consists of various cycling facilities, walking improvements, traffic calming elements, and intersection improvements, all specifically tailored to their context in the different areas and communities of Kawartha Lakes. The network is complemented by a series of recommendations that are meant to help facilitate implementation, and encourage increased active trips throughout Kawartha Lakes.

Please see the "Documents" tab to the right for the network maps (Upload #5) and ATMP recommendations (Upload #7).

For more information about the network and the project, view our recent Task Force presentation (Upload #6).

Please also see the "Survey" tab for a new opportunity to give your feedback.

We look forward to hearing your feedback on which routes and recommendations are the most important to you. This will be the final opportunity for input on the plan, and this round of engagement will guide us into the final stages of the ATMP: the appropriate phasing of our recommendations, and development of a final ATMP document to be finalized later this year. The ATMP recommendations will be implemented starting in 2024 in coordination with the recently completed Trails Master Plan Update, and the forthcoming Transportation Master Plan.
