CLOSED - Apply to be on the ATMP Task Force

11 March 2022

The project team is putting together a task force to provide advice and recommendations to Council and staff on improving opportunities for active modes of transportation such as walking, running, cycling and rollerblading. The Task Force members will review materials and technical studies prepared by the project team to help inform decisions made in the development of the plan.

“The Active Transportation Master Plan Task Force will represent community members and play an important role in informing the team’s decision making,” commented Jonathan Derworiz – Planner II, City of Kawartha Lakes. “We want to assemble a diverse group that represents the various ages, abilities and interests of the community. There is sometimes a preconceived notion that active transportation focuses on cycling and that is not the case. We strongly encourage anyone eligible with ideas to make it better, safer and easier to get around Kawartha Lakes through physical activity to apply.”

There are currently fourteen vacancies available on the Task Force. The following are the applicant eligibility requirements:

  • A resident of Kawartha Lakes (own, rent, live in shared accommodation where you do not pay rent or live in the municipality with no fixed address); or
  • An owner of property in Kawartha Lakes or a person who rents property in the City, or the spouse of the above; and,
  • at least eighteen years of age; and,
  • a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident of Canada.

The Task Force will hold a minimum of four meetings during its term and will conclude on November 14, 2022 to coincide with the current term of Council. An extension may be recommended once a new term of Council begins.

Members of the public interested in serving on the Active Transportation Master Plan Task Force are asked to submit a Citizen Appointment Application Form, available online at kawarthalakes.ca/boardsandcommittees. Supporting materials can also be emailed to clerks@kawarthalakes.ca.

Applications must be received no later than 4:30pm on Friday March 25, 2022.
