Consultation has concluded
Locally, the Kawartha Lakes economy has been challenged. A resilient community, many local businesses and organizations have made tremendous efforts to re-orient and adapt their processes. However, there's a need for everyone involved to strategically work towards economic recovery. We have established two Task Forces to make recommendations to Council on how to best assist our community recover.

Open fully WHILE protecting the vulnerable
Canada should FULLY REOPEN the economy and use the money they are spending on CERB, wage subsidies, loans etc toward protecting the vulnerable. If they did that they would: a) protect the vulnerable BETTER than is currently happening by adding PSWs (thus creating jobs) and medical equipment, b) save money through this process (since the above would cost less than what the government is currently spending), c) have a fully functioning economy (which maintains the viability of economic recovery), d) and protect the future economy so as to provide a future for our children.
