Fenelon Falls Second Crossing Update
Municipal Class Environmental Assessment Study
Phases 3 & 4 Notice of Study Commencement

The City has started Phases 3 and 4 of the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (MCEA). These phases will look at the preferred location for a second bridge across the Burnt River—possibly on Somerville Concession Road 3—and collect the information needed to choose the best design before any construction begins.

What the Study Will Look At

During these phases, the City will:

  • Look at how traffic works now and how it might change in the future
  • Explore different possible designs for a new bridge
  • Study the natural environment (plants, animals, land, and water) near the proposed bridge
  • Check how each design might affect the environment, and what could be done to reduce any negative impacts
  • Ask for opinions and ideas from the public and other groups
  • Choose a preferred design based on everything learned

Why This is Important

We want to hear from residents early in the process so comments can help shape the study. There will also be a Public Information Centre in the upcoming months. At that meeting, people will be able to see the different bridge design options and learn how they were compared.
