City of Kawartha Lakes Council continues its support for the creation of The Hub - Kawartha Lakes' Cultural Centre. Council received project and budget information during the June 3, 2025 Committee of the Whole meeting. Phase 3 work would include purchasing a site, designing the facility and completing all necessary environmental and process work to ensure compliance with current land use planning requirements. Collaborating with the Indigenous Nations of Treaty Twenty, the Métis Council of Ontario and its regional Peterborough office is an important component of site selection and design.
Council struck Cultural Centre Feasibility Task Forces (CCFTF) in Phase One (1) and Two (2), retaining the strong connection and collaborative foundation of the project. Over the next 18 months, staff and community cultural members will continue to work together through the next phase of development of an art-focused Cultural Centre in the City of Kawartha Lakes.
