Help Shape the Future of Garnet Graham Park
Garnet Graham Park is an important waterfront public space in Fenelon Falls, providing opportunities to enjoy the waterfront, recreation, community activities and the natural setting.
The City is exploring the future redevelopment of the park and local municipal boat launch. Three master plan concepts have been prepared for public review. Each concept illustrates a different approach to the park layout, waterfront amenities, Water Street and the municipal boat launch.
The concepts are intended to support discussion and gather feedback. They are not final designs and this consultation is not a vote to select one concept exactly as shown. The City may combine, modify or further develop elements from one or more concepts when preparing a preferred plan. Community feedback will be considered together with technical, operational, accessibility, environmental and financial considerations.
All three concepts have been developed with accessibility and the requirements of the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) in mind. Accessibility will continue to be considered as the project moves through future design stages.
The Three Concepts
Master Plan Concept #1 – Bond St. Boat Launch
Relocates the municipal boat launch to the Bond Street end of the park. The concept includes a park entry plaza, beach, kayak launch, playground, picnic area, volleyball and sport courts, viewing and observation areas, public gathering space, waterfront connections and other park amenities. Along Water Street, regulated access would create a more pedestrian-oriented area that could support market, community and gathering activities.
Master Plan Concept #2 – Water St. Boat Launch
Retains the municipal boat launch on Water Street. The concept includes beach, junior and senior playgrounds, picnic areas, aqua play, volleyball, a fitness park, waterfront observation areas, a boardwalk/timber bridge, shade features and other park amenities. Water Street would continue to accommodate access associated with the existing boat launch and truck/boat trailer parking.
Master Plan Concept #3 – Community Waterfront
Creates a community-focused waterfront park without a municipal boat launch within Garnet Graham Park. The concept includes beach, kayak launch, natural playground, picnic areas, volleyball/sport courts, community events/music space, boardwalk and waterfront connections, floating docks, seating and market/food-related space. Water Street would move to regulated access, creating a more pedestrian-oriented waterfront area that could support market, community and gathering activities.
Water Street
Master Plan Concepts #1 and #3 propose regulated access on Water Street. This would allow the street to function as a more pedestrian-oriented waterfront space and provide opportunities for uses such as markets, community activities, seating and gathering space. Master Plan Concept #2 retains Water Street in association with the existing municipal boat launch.
How your Feedback Will be Used
• Identify the park features, amenities and waterfront experiences that are most important to the community.
• Understand community perspectives on the location and future role of the municipal boat launch.
• Gather feedback on the potential use of Water Street as a more pedestrian-oriented market and community space.
• Identify concerns, opportunities and ideas that should be considered as the concepts are refined.
Following public consultation, the City will review the feedback and use it to help refine a preferred direction for Garnet Graham Park. The preferred direction may draw from more than one concept and will remain subject to further technical review, detailed design, approvals and budget considerations.
